Denton Texas Town & Country Drive In Movie Theater at www.pinballrebel.com

The Denton Town and Counrty was a neat place to see movies as well. This picture is of the concession stand. Not much left here either. The drive in did not die the most graceful death but we still morn its passing. In the end people tell me it tried to survive by showing some questionable films. If you have any pictures of the Denton Drive In when it was still standing please email me.

UPDATE!

I got the following email which better tells about the last days of the T&C

Ken,

Nice drive-in webpages you have. I found them through a link from another drive-in page. I thought I should clarify something re: the Town and Country. I remember well the final year of the T&C and they did not have any questionable (porno) films playing there. Sounds like someone has this place confused with some other D.I. The place closed in 1986 after the summer ended and never re-opened. In late 1985-1986 I remember they had movies such as "Murphy's Romance", Police Academy (3 I think), Perfect (JL Curtis and J Travolta), and Cobra (Stallone). In other words, standard mid-80's stuff. I visited that same abandoned concession stand about a year or two after the demise and I am surprised it is still there. It had been badly vandalized then, but in your photo it looks even worse. I also "visited" the Sher-Den about 10 years ago. I don't get out to Sherman very often, but I find it strange that it and T&C have been abandoned for so long and their remains are still in place. Hey how about some inside photos of that abandoned mall across the highway? :-)

Regards,
C. Davis
